Huawei Phone Repair in Vancouver

Mate, Pura, P and Nova Series at Two Walk-In Shops

A cracked screen, a battery that no longer lasts the afternoon, a charging port that only works at one angle, or a phone that will not turn on at all. Those cover most of what comes through the door.

Gadget Ali repairs Huawei phones at two shops, 6551 No. 3 Road in Richmond and 935 Marine Drive in North Vancouver. Walk in during business hours, no appointment needed at either.

Huawei is a particular case in Canada and we will be straight with you about it. What year your phone was bought changes what parts we can get and how long it takes, and we explain exactly where yours stands before quoting anything.

What to expect when you bring a Huawei in

The first thing we ask is roughly when and where the phone was bought. On Huawei that question decides more than the model does, because it tells us whether the part is something we can source locally or something that has to be ordered in.

Once we know that, we inspect the phone and give you a realistic price and a realistic timeline. Calling ahead with the exact model is genuinely worth it here, more so than with any other brand we work on.

The 2019 cutoff, and why it matters

Huawei phones split into two groups, and which side yours falls on affects almost everything about repairing it.

Phones bought here before 2019

Models like the P30, the P20 and the Mate 20 were sold through Canadian carriers, run standard Android with Google services, and were common enough here that replacement screens and batteries are still obtainable. These are routine repairs and we can usually give you a firm price quickly.

Phones bought after 2019, or brought from overseas

From 2019 onward, US trade restrictions meant Huawei phones ship without Google Mobile Services. No Play Store, no Google Maps, no Gmail, no YouTube app. Newer models run HarmonyOS, Huawei’s own operating system, rather than Android.

Those devices were never sold through Canadian carriers, so almost every one we see was bought overseas and brought here. The repair work is the same as any Android phone. What changes is that parts are ordered individually rather than pulled off a shelf, which adds days rather than hours.

How to tell which one you have

Open your app drawer. If the Google Play Store is there and works, your phone predates the restrictions. If you see AppGallery instead, it does not. That one check tells us more than the model number does.

What this means for your quote

We will tell you which group your phone falls into and what that means for cost and timing before you commit to anything. What we will not do is quote a price and a date we cannot hold, which on an imported Huawei is a real risk if a shop does not check first.

Huawei models we repair

We work across the range. What varies is lead time rather than capability, and that comes back to when and where the phone was bought.

  • Mate series, including Mate 80, Mate 70, Mate 60, Mate 50 and older Mate models
  • Pura series, including Pura 80 and Pura 70
  • P series, including P60, P50, P40, P30 and P20
  • Nova series and Nova Lite
  • Y series
  • Mate X and Mate X7 foldables

Foldables are a different job from a standard screen. The Mate X models have an inner panel, an outer display and a hinge, and any of the three can fail on its own. Parts for these are rarely on hand, so call ahead before travelling with one.

If your model is not listed, send it to us before you come in and we will confirm what we can source for it.We repair many Huawei phone models, depending on the issue type, device condition, and parts availability. This may include newer Huawei flagship models, mid-range Huawei phones, and older devices that still have available repair options.

If you have a specific Huawei model, contact us before visiting and our team will confirm available repair options.

Huawei repairs we handle

Cracked OLED screens and dead touch areas

Huawei displays are OLED, so an impact can leave the glass looking almost intact while touch stops responding in one area or a dark patch spreads.

That is the panel rather than the glass. We test touch and colour across the whole surface before recommending anything.

Battery replacement on older P and Mate models

Many of the Huawei phones we see are now five or six years old, which is well past the point where a lithium cell starts giving up.

A phone that reaches lunchtime and dies is behaving normally rather than failing, and on the older models the part is straightforward to get.

Charging ports that only work at one angle

Usually compacted lint rather than a failed port, and clearing that takes minutes. If the port itself is worn we replace it.

Either way we check for debris first, because it saves an unnecessary repair often enough to be worth doing.

Camera faults on P and Pura series

The camera is the reason a lot of people bought these phones, and there are several modules in each one.

Usually only a single module fails, so we test each separately rather than replacing the whole assembly.

Speaker and microphone problems

Low volume, distorted sound, or people saying they cannot hear you.

We test the earpiece, the loudspeaker and the microphone separately before opening anything, because they are three different parts.

Liquid damage

The damage is corrosion rather than water, and it keeps spreading after the phone feels dry. Leave it off, do not charge it, and bring it in.

Nobody can promise an outcome before opening the device and we will not pretend otherwise.

Back up before any Huawei repair

Huawei Phone Repair Cost

This matters more on Huawei than on other brands, and it is worth understanding before anything happens to your phone.

Your backup probably is not where you think it is. On a phone without Google services, photos and contacts are not syncing to a Google account. They are either in Huawei Cloud or they are only on the device. Check which before you hand the phone to anyone.

A factory reset is harder to recover from. On most phones you reset, sign in, and the Play Store puts your apps back. On a HarmonyOS device there is no Play Store, so anything installed through a workaround has to be set up again from scratch. That is a real cost and it is why we treat a reset as a last resort on these devices rather than a routine step.

Know your account details. The phone locks to the Huawei ID that was signed in, and it will ask for that password after a reset. Without it the device stays locked and no repair shop can unlock it for you.

If you are unsure whether a fault is hardware or software, our guide on telling a hardware fault from a software one runs through the tests worth trying before anyone opens the phone.

Why Huawei prices are quoted case by case

On most brands we can tell you a starting price before seeing the phone, because we know what the part costs. On Huawei we usually cannot, and it is worth explaining why rather than hiding behind it.

The labour is the same as any Android phone. The part is the variable. For models sold here before 2019 the supply is reasonable and the price is close to what you would pay for an equivalent Samsung. For anything newer, the part is imported individually and the cost moves with availability rather than with a price list.

So we check first. Send us the model, or bring the phone in, and we will source the part before giving you a number. The inspection costs nothing, and you are free to take the quote and think about it.

For what we charge on brands we keep parts for, see our phone repair pricing page. If you are weighing up whether an older Huawei is worth fixing at all, our guide on whether to repair or replace your phone covers how to think about it.

Huawei Phone Repair FAQs

Can you still repair Huawei phones in Vancouver?

Yes. What changes is lead time rather than capability. Models sold here before 2019 are routine because parts are obtainable locally. Newer models were never sold through Canadian carriers, so parts are ordered individually and take longer to arrive.

Why does my Huawei have no Google Play Store?

US trade restrictions from 2019 mean Huawei phones ship without Google Mobile Services. Newer models run HarmonyOS, Huawei’s own operating system, with AppGallery instead of Play Store. Phones sold before that point still have Google services and are unaffected.

How do I know which kind of Huawei I have?

Open your app drawer. If the Google Play Store is there and works, your phone predates the restrictions. If you see AppGallery instead, it does not. That single check tells us more about the repair than the model number does.

Are you a Huawei authorised service centre?

No. Gadget Ali is an independent repair shop. Huawei has no authorised service network in Canada, which is part of why owners here have limited options and why we are straight about what we can and cannot source.

Why can you not give me a price over the phone?

Because the part is the variable, not the labour. On a Huawei sold here before 2019 we often can. On a newer imported model we have to check availability first, and quoting before that would mean giving you a number we might not be able to hold.

Should I back up before bringing it in?

Yes, and check where your backup actually is. Without Google services your photos and contacts are either in Huawei Cloud or only on the device. Also make sure you know your Huawei ID password, because the phone locks to that account and no shop can unlock it for you.

Do you repair Mate X foldables?

Foldables have an inner panel, an outer display and a hinge that can each fail on their own, and parts for these are rarely on hand. Call ahead with the exact model before travelling with one.

Is an older Huawei worth repairing?

Often yes, if the fault is one part and the phone otherwise runs well. A battery or a charging port on a P30 costs a fraction of a replacement. It gets harder to justify when two or three things need doing at once on a phone that no longer receives updates.

Do you repair Huawei watches, tablets or earbuds?

Yes, though each is covered separately. Huawei Watch is on our smartwatch repair page, MatePad on our tablet repair page, and FreeBuds on our headphones and earbuds page.
